You have no way of knowing this even though this is what you believe. The problem with your statement is that he sure is acting like they may find something on him more and more each day.
So if Comey botched the email investigation which swung the election, then he deserves to be fired. That means that we have a POTUS who was elected via illegal action by the FBI. Never a good thing.
If the email investigation did not influence the election, why the hasty termination? At least get the guy on the phone first. Letting Comey find out in the middle of his work day by an announcement over the news is not only low class but stupid.
Even Spicer seems somewhat reluctant to address the issue.
When was the last time you heard of a Press Secretary hiding in the shrubbery, insisting that the cameras and lights be turned off before he would come out and talk?

And if this does go south, and there is something to these Russian ties allegations, and Trump goes down for it, I can see Trumpers going down with him, defending him til the end. Instead of turning on him and admitting they made a mistake by voting for him.
For many there was little choice left so there really isn't a mistake in voting for him. I didn't vote for Trump but I most certainly could not vote for Hillary so I can't blame others for not being willing to vote for her.
The mistake was in making Hillary the candidate to start with. If Comey had done his job, that wouldn't have happened.
