I'm sure that Trump knew when he fired comey that comey would still testify. To me, firing him now just proves that Trump KNOWS they dont have anything on him Because he wasn't colluding with the russians.
I mean, use some logic..if he thought comey had something on him, he'd be kissing comey's butt to keep it private. Everyone knows that firing the director doesn't stop an investigation. And it would make any comey loyalists in the fbi even more determined to get the info out.
Trump waited until he had an assistant director confirmed, and the investigation of comey's performance finished.
