This is just the beginning, too. There are apparently over a dozen subpoenas coming down.
And this ain't the 1960s. A few shredders won't solve their problem. There is record of everything that goes on electronically....from e-mails, to text messages, to bank transfers.
If we would have cared about this months ago we wouldn't be in this situation.
Comey supposedly said this, as reported by the biased New York Times, and then passed on by a biased liberal (you). And we are supposed to take this as fact!!
You would only believe it if it was reported by TASS, right?
Ignoring all the "getting too close to the truth" drama, if your belief were true, then all they had to do was deny the funding requested. They didn't have to fire Comey and face all this blow back.
Further, do you seriously think Comey himself was getting close to anything? If anyone is close to any kind of damaging truth, its an FBI agent or a team of them. Far as we know, they are all still there.
So, the truth they know to date is still in the hands of the FBI.
It is as if people believe the career FBI agents who are investigating this would now suddenly drop it even if they say they were getting "close to the truth".

Sure. It was stupid, as there are always more than one option. However, stupid is in line with most things Trump does.

LOL. He told his team he wanted to be briefed daily, not weekly. Do you not wonder why? Yes, there are others who know, but with a new Trump loyalist in charge they will shut their faces, or be sorry. They will be re-assigned to other cases. Personally I think the truth will come out despite of all the cover up.
Liberals and conservatives alike didn't like Comey, for one simple reason. He had one allegiance in life and that was to the rule of law. His job was to investigate potential breaches of law, not to kowtow to the Democrats or the Republicans. That is why he was Donald Trump's greatest enemy; Comey was never, ever going to stop until he either proved Russia/Trump collusion and brought charges; or proved there was no collusion.
When Comey asked for resources to make the final push in the investigation, Trump decided that had to fire him. It was a stupid move on Trump's part; because it is very possible that the American electorate will go into the midterms without a final outcome of the investigation. Probably the kiss of death for Trump and the Republicans in 2018. If a special prosecutor is appointed that might turn that around, hard to say.
Then he had to lawyer up.
Donald Trump hires lawyers to help defend him over Russia allegations
"In fact, he has already charged a leading law firm in Washington DC to send a certified letter to Senator Graham to point out that he has no connections to Russia.”
This new information seems to rebut the statement Trump made in his Comey firing letter that Comey assured Trump 3 times he was not under investigation. Like Comey would tell the target of an investigation that they are or are not under investigation.
Maybe the next FBI director will provide weekly updates to the White House on their Russian investigation, no conflict there.

Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had wanted a heads-up from Comey about what he would say at a May 3 hearing about his handling of an investigation into former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server.
When Comey refused, Trump and his aides considered that an act of insubordination and it was one of the catalysts to Trump’s decision this week to fire the FBI director, the officials said.
"It gave the impression that he was no longer capable of carrying out his duties," one official said. Previews of congressional testimony to superiors are generally considered courteous.

Wonder if this is the same law firm that put together the "blind trust," the firm that was awarded the Russian law firm of the year.
