It's a political stunt by a slick show man.

Some contractors gave up on bidding because of the changes to and lack of details in the government's request for proposals.

Christopher Dillon owns a construction management firm in Anchorage, Alaska, and put his company on the list of interested bidders, but quickly changed his mind.

“From the outset of the project, I have been tracking it and it’s a political stunt,” Dillon said.

There doesn’t seem to be any money to build the wall now, he said, and there might never be funding.

The whole process is so Trump can say he fulfilled a campaign promise by trying to get the wall built but got no support from Congress, Dillon said. Meanwhile, “it’s burning a lot of money. It’s really jerking the contracting community around,” he said.

Dillon said he has contacted his representatives in Congress, urging them not to fund the wall. Technology, more border patrol agents and more Coast Guard employees would be a better way to secure the border, Dillon said.

Yeah, yeah, here we are again with Lefties just taking the OPINION of some unknown nobody and running with it like it's the truth. The same thing with the guy who was told on the golf course by a friend who was told by Eric Trump, yadda yadda yadda.

The possibility of this Boondoggle (=worthless government project) being built is just enough that I insist eh WALL be built along the Northern border with Canada. Just building it from Plattsburg, NY to Callas, Maine would keep New England contractors in work for the next few decades.

I see no reason this money should only be spent mostly in Texas.

Since the surveys have not been done and no property has been acquired what they must be looking for is a proposal.

It cost money to bid jobs.

What contractor is going to devote resources when they have no clue what the bid specifics are?

And your proof of being a known somebody whose opinion should be treated as the truth would be?

At least 200 companies have expressed in interest in the project..................Several prototypes of the wall will be built on federally controlled land in San Diego. Customs and Border Protection chose that site for its accessibility and to evaluate the bids "as part of the larger existing border infrastructure," said a CBP spokesperson. The agency said each wall prototype will be 30 feet long and range in height from 18 to 30 feet. Finalists will be announced in June with the expectation that prototype construction will be completed 30 days later.

This is nothing unusual for many government jobs. Many contractors will prepare proposals, but they will be big contractors. No "little" guys. One example includes PennDOT's recent PPP for bridge replacements, or VDOT's RFPs for a "third crossing" in the Hampton Roads areas.

The Wall that appeals to anyone with common sense is fiercely debated by those who oppose it in any form yet they are the same types of people who lock their doors, windows, cars and anything else up that they have worked for in case it might get stolen or trespassed on. The loudest protestors are those that live behind gates and can afford personal security.

The wall is not a popular topic in the still Liberal DC and in much of America where Sanctuary cities are the feel good notion of the year.

What is wrong with beefing up the walls that are already there and building a few more that will serve to funnel the illegal aliens into areas where they can be caught easier?
We don't need to build another great wall of China.
