CA is using obama math and theory to create an impression of a state doing well.
Maybe they are, a failing economy with shortages for edu would never use limited taxpayer money to pay lawyers to defend illegal immigrants. Lawyers aren't cheap.
And they are almost at the bottom in education.
Huge wealth and education gap in CA -- Silicon Valley billionaires, democrat party millionaires, and Hollywood airheads are all insulated from the poverty and dysfunction of the rest of CA.
Another Trumpie engaging in class warfare against wealthy people. I'm shocked
CA has one of the best upward mobility index in the union.
To sum it for you in a simple way that you can understand - in CA, poverty is where people start with. In red states, poverty is where people end up in.
As I mentioned upthread (//www.city-data.com/forum/48118829-post53.html) that is not at all true.
California, according to their own studies published at Housing and Economic Mobility has the worst economic mobility in the country. They are dead last out of 50 states in economic mobility, income inequality, and the rate of increase in income inequality.
(This is particularly bad because just 10 years ago, before the housing crisis, California was one of the best states for relative upward economic mobility, even if its absolute economic mobility was just slightly below average and relative downward economic mobility was poor. http://www.pewtrusts.org/en/research...-of-the-states)

Uh no. Not everyone. Give me 1000 acres 20 miles from the nearest town in a conservative state where people mind their own business. Glad to be out of CA.
I said most will choose expensive cities, not all.
Can't help but laugh when some Trumpster says we should cut federal funding to California. They are one of few states that contributes more to the fed than they receive. Most red states are on welfare.
After factoring in cost of living, Cali is the 40th state for median household income purchasing power. Like New York, if you're in the right industry or have wealth you made or inherited, Cali is a great state. For the middle class, not so much.
Cali became great economically when the Repubs ran the state and they were the envy of the world. The Dems haven't killed Silicon Valley or Hollywood yet so not all bad.
And how do you know that? My state is flooding with people just like me, as well as neighboring states.
Again because: demand. Expensive cities are expensive for a reason, not because they just decided to all of a sudden.
The only barrier from keeping people from getting what they want in a free market is price.
