Most of the people in prison are there for drug crimes. It was only a matter of time before using drugs for Capital Punishment was going to run it's course.
Interesting question. Many might believe that to be the case. Others looking at it from a historical reference might not agree. Beheading has a long and storied past giving us phrases like "head on a stake" and "head on a plate". Nothing says dead like a severed head and proof of the one killed is confirmed by display. Marry old England embraced it along with other civilizations in Mexico who displayed the heads of the enemy on walls. Quite a large number of them too. The French bring it to the height of glory with the French Revolution and the guillotine. *
Surly we'll be desensitized by decapitation, and be able to function without the emotion in times of war, when it is used as a psychological tool to rally support along with statements to demonize the enemy.
The judge thinks "The guillotine is probably best". Executions are brutal, savage events, and nothing the state tries to do can mask that reality.
Execution is a gory and brutal thing, but if it must be used, it may as well be quick. Drugs usually work well and fast, but sometimes it doesn't go quite as planed. A firing squad could work but seems a bit old fashion. A guillotine, while brutally disgusting, would be a quick and painless death. A bloody mess to clean up, but quick which is the most humane thing to do (ironic how one of the most inhumane looking methods of execution is probably the most painless method for the actual prisoner).
Though, when King Louis XVII was executed, he was so fat that the guillotine blade didn't go through all the way. Two men had to get on either side of the blade and push down to actually sever his head. So, a guillotine for the regular McDonald's clients may need to be made. One size apparently does not fit all.

When it's the sentence for a brutal and savage crime, nothing can mask the fairness of the punishment either.
Good old King Louis XVII must have taken the words of his wife Marie Antoinette to heart when he heard her say "let them eat cake"
Good point TheDusty makes. It would make an excellent contest. Engineer one for each application. I'm going to work on a design for the portly fellow and get my entry ready if the contest is ever created.
I see your point and it has Merritt. But there is room for failure if the knot is not done correctly. Could leave the poor boy wiggling and shaking. Although put to the right music it might go over well and relieve the squeamish spectator..

Guillotine or Firing Squad. Getter done.
I'm not sure what being in prison for drugs and using drugs to carry out a death sentence has to do with each other. It's disconnected reasoning.
IMHO, a person is being put to death for murder(s), and more than likely brutal murder(s). I have no pity for the way they are put down, as long as they are put down.
Any person who can take another persons life, for anything other reason than self-defense, deserves to be sent to his maker on a bullet train.
