Comey doesn't matter. If things don't get better the progressive republicans will be voted out. If Obamacare light goes through, that's another nail in the coffin. More and more people are tired about the lying and flip flopping from both sides.
This actually isn't the most insane theory. I don't think the Republicans have a platform to carry it out on hence why every single one of them signed away your privacy for Big Corp, and voted to throw the old and the sick under the bus for Trumpcare.
Don't underestimate the capabilities of the Republicans. They wouldn't have gotten where they are without being smart and cunning. You have to in order to survive Washington. And you have to be a party loyalist.
Trump is not a Republican loyalist. They don't like that. If you don't play ball with them, they will work to take you down. Dems are the same. That's why both parties are as powerful as they are.
During the primaries we saw one loyal Republican after the next all talk trash about Trump. Once he won the election, they all pretended like he was the bomb. If you are a politician that has done well in Washington, you are a skilled BSer. But you also are a party loyalist. So they play nice with Trump while behind his back they work to get everything they can out of him before they cut him loose.
Trump won't play the party loyalist game. Kudos to him for that, but those of us who voted for a change also voted in establishment party loyalists to Congress. And they all know the party comes first.
I believe if Trump makes it past the 2018 midterms and Democrats take control of Congress, the GOP could be done for a generation. Trump's support among independents is only 29% and is even lower among Democrats. Republicans can't win national elections with only their base. It will likely be a very long time before those outside Trump's base give the GOP another chance.
Nah, only a decade. These things go back and forth pretty regularly.
I don't think they planned it this way. Trump alienated a lot of the Repubs during the campaign, calling them names, ridiculing them. Think they're really over that? He made up nasty stories about any other candidate who ran against them --and people don't suddenly forgive and forget.
They never in a million years thought he'd be elected. They never had a plan.
Now it's a free for all with total chaos. He's out of control, unpredictable, says one thing, does another. A lot of them probably don't know whether to just pretend to go along with him and keep their jobs or turn away, lie low, and try again later.
One thing, Trump moves so fast, like a slithering snake, that no one in either party can keep up. How can they even figure out a strategy when this moving target changes so fast?
I think most of them realize that he wouldn't be able to get elected again, knowing what we know now. So I do think many will plan to jump ship before the midterms. But I don't think they had a plan and don't think they have a plan yet. Neither do the Dems.
It's no secret the Republicans have never liked Donald Trump. But they took a lemon and made lemonade when they realized Trump was ripe for being taken advantage of. So they put one thing after the next in front of him to sign and sign away he did. No need to go through the usual dog and pony show because Trump will sign anything. But the voters are falling like dominoes and the Republicans are getting worried about mid-terms.
Then came The Plan: Get rid of Trump in time for the Republicans to recoup from the damage the party is experiencing now. Dump him by the end of the year. That should give them enough time to get back in good graces with voters before the 2018 mid-terms, otherwise it will be a blood bath and the Democrats will take control of Congress.
But Trump has to cooperate with ThePlan that will oust him. And he's been doing okay but still needed to do more. Then Trump fired Jim Comey. The people began screaming and the Republicans began wringing their hands.
The Dems are now cooperating beautifully with ThePlan by loudly comparing Trump to Nixon and calling the firing a Constitutional Crisis. Perfect! Let them rally to remove Trump while the Pubs pretend to stand behind their leader.
Once public opinion shifts enough, the Pubs will slowly drop their support of Trump, because, well... they have to, you know. Then Pence steps in and the Pubs will have succeeded in carrying out ThePlan and 2018 won't be the end of their dominance.
If this wasn't REALLY going on I'd tell you to go away troll b/c you are nothing but a conspiracy theorist. Hard to believe that these are the current events of our times.
