Very interesting insight from Cambridge University educated actor, Stephen Fry (recently charged/spared as "police could't find enough outraged persons" for blasphemy in Ireland and also voted the most intelligent person on TV in the United Kingdom) :

For example, researchers found students who were least proficient often overestimated their own abilities.

“The skills they lacked were the same skills required to recognize their incompetence,” Fry said. “The incompetent are often blessed with an inappropriate confidence buoyed by something that feels to them like knowledge.”

That’s now known as the Dunning-Kruger effect.

[...]

"The greatest ennemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge".

Please discuss after seeing the video, otherwise you'd just prove the point made

....the Dunning Kruger effect, or, in other words:

"The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of confidence." - Charles Bukowski

Sorry, I'll have to watch the video later if I have time (I prefer text, not video), but just want to say that it's interesting. And, yes, I know about the studies showing that dumb people imagine themselves to be smart.

Interesting how many of the famous British comics were OxBridge-educated, unlike the U.S.

Are you really in Nice?

Why would I say I lived in Nice if it weren't true?

Trump was right about one thing. He could shoot someone and get away with it. His followers act like they're hypnotized. If the Democrats pulled some of this same crap the Republicans would have impeached him by now. I'll bet the new head of the FBI is going to be a Loyalist to Trump. This democracy is finished. Republicans have put their party before country. Not many Republicans speaking out for fear of Trump.

Did you care to look at the video at all? and/or the facts that it claims?

If not, again and sorry for that, you are just an example of what Dunning-Krugger effect is.

EDA : same for Dockside apparently.

NOONE is calling you STUPID!

You might just be if you react on instinct rather than on what is posted!

Just get to the end of the video if you can manage that, before answering as in attacked.

As I said, if you don't, it might be confirming EXACTLY what the insight of Mr Fry is saying. Discuss what is said, please.
