1. People (liberals) move to conservative state for job opportunities. They didn't move to the states for any other reason. They have no want to assimilate into the culture that is traditionally held by the state they moved to. In fact those people probably want to shape the area into something that is similar to the place they came from. Hence the dilemma you brought up in your original post.
2. Older people move to more conservative state especially low tax states in order to retirement get the most bang for your buck for retirement. Also with states like Texas and Florida the weather is better for these older folks. These older folks may or may not have a liberal views that they are bringing to the states. But most likely if they had a liberal views before they move to the state they will bring them with.
3. Other people may move to conservative state for various other reasons. That's just something that you would have to take on a individual basis.

Decent observations, although obvious. What does the saying when in Rome do as the Romans do mean to you?

As the Massachusetts:
We also get a little government contracts. Military ones as matter fact.
Our tech Industry is pretty good.
Our Financial sector is OK. Been to New York we are very small compared to them.
Our bio medical industry is kick ass.
A healthcare industry pretty kick ass.
As for college. Listen if other states don't want to send their kids to Massachusetts to be educated that's fine by me. But yeah our education industry is kick ass as well.
Really the only downside is the cost-of-living. But then again. I personally wouldn't be happy with that services I receive from the state and local government.
Actually I'm thinking of taking my current contract work down here in Northern Virginia and trying to take on a permanent position here. It's pretty awesome down here in Washington metro.
And for the most part it's not all that big of a change for me down here. Pretty much live the same lifestyle here as in Massachusetts. Except the weather is a little bit better.

So you are acknowledging that it a state built and run by corporate lackeyism yet inhabited by a population that is constantly whining about corporate lackeyism. A "walking contradiction" if you will. Interesting.
Social-welfare liberals would like people to believe through their continuous propaganda that people are fleeing 'conservative' states to move to liberal nanny-states when in reality the opposite is true.
People are leaving nanny-states to move to move to historically conservative states in reality. Social and economic leftists have created the label "red' state to name the more conservative states who are trying to oppose the indoctrinated leftist ideologies of the people who are fleeing to their states. It is nothing but a leftist crock of nonsense, BS and lies.
More socially and economically conservatives are not fleeing their states to move to liberal-nanny states. That would be leftist insanity, which is common. Conservative states are just trying to prevent the leftists who are moving to their states from becoming the states the leftists are fleeing from.
So why exactly are leftist liberals flocking to more conservative states but bringing all of their leftist baggage with them? Can you really blame the more conservative states for pushing back?

Crap, now the cat is out of the bag. Democrats like me had the plan to flood into Tennessee and eventually turn the state even more blue than Hawaii.
People are fleeing high tax states in the Northeast for southern states, just as Californians are fleeing their paradise lost for ll over the country, but unfortunately a large portion of them are coming to Colorado and voting for liberal Democrats and tax increases, essentially slowly turning the state into the same ****hole they are fleeing.
