I'm currently seeing a man who flat out told me that he has and will reject any Trump Supporters. I don't blame him, especially since Trump has shown himself both in character and via his policies to be anti woman. Trump's Presidency sure has been one of the most divisive I've seen in politics.
Just like looks, worldview, and personality are things we use discriminate in the dating world, it seems fair game to me.
Recent stats show that people are less to marry across ideological lines anymore. Same with income. We're clustering into homogenous mating groups. Otherwise known as assortive mating. Moreso than previous generations.
As a long time view of political punditry, I've always thought James Carville (D) and Mary Matalin (R) were pretty fascinating as a Washington power couple. Not sure what Matalin thinks of Trump or if she voted for him. Many longtime Republicans denounced Trump.
Would you date someone from your opposite political party? Why and why not?
I get that this could be viewed more appropriate in the Relationships section but given the context I think this could fit more better here. If the powers that be disagree they are free to move it.
I would not consider a relationship with anyone who is an extremist with their political views whether left or right. Those people are not mentally healthy. They would not be capable of an intellectual and open discussion about issues.
As a complete liberal, I will date men who are socially liberal, whether they are economically liberal or not. There are Rs who are socially liberal.
A religious fundamentalist is unlikely to be happy with me for long. I am way too opinionated and godless for a female.
That's me! I'm a fiscal conservative, but I support significant parts of liberal social ideas, and most importantly the concept that the government should stay out of our bedrooms, and that abortion is an issue between only a woman and her doctor. (Well except the last trimester.)
I took up the cause of female equality way back in the '60s, back when college students were creating and supporting very strong political and social changes. I'm saddened to see that much of it has come to nothing. The Age of Aquirius turned out to be a fizzle.
I also don't understand why the government should get involved in marriage. You need a license for that? A government issued license??? And pay a fee?????
What I don't support is all the acting out currently in vogue.

There are plenty of good, well adjusted, fine people who are 'godless.'
Even if there is a God I doubt it will bother him or her when punching your admission ticket to Heaven as long as you have lived your life as a good person.
