Here are two interesting articles pertaining to the French election. Like the U.S., they were targeted for far-right internet manipulation. However, unlike the U.S.:

1. They didn't give much credence to the right-wing craziness.

2. They understood that some of the revelations (akin to the Hillary so-called revelations) were inconsequential.

3. They made an effort to counter the online attacks.

They sound savvier than us.

Or, the French are and have always been more leftist than Americans.

And for that, they have obscene unemployment, a bloated public sector, and in about 100 years they will be part of the Ummah.

So, savvy? I guess it depends on your perspective.

Actually they felt their free stuff was threatened.

Terrorism will never overcome their fear of losing free stuff.

Actually, I was just reading something last week that if you look at the main employment sector - and I don't know what it was, maybe ages 25-55 - it was very good in comparison with other countries. I'm assuming that the only reason you term it "bloated" is because you don't believe in public programs to benefit the general citizenry.

At 9.6%, France's unemployment rate is 5 points higher than the UK, and 6 points higher than Germany. (Incidentally, last year was the first time since 2012 that the general unemployment rate dipped below 10%).

The French YOUTH unemployment rate is 25%.

France's GPD grew by 1.2%

The public sector does not operate in a vacuum. It is not a self-sustaining ecosystem. Up to 2 million French live abroad, and last year alone 10000 French millionaires left the country.

No, France isn't more intelligent than the United States. If anything, this election shows that France is ready to continue the status quo with the EU and the same old PC, globalism. I'd say the Anglo world is the intelligent sector of the world.
