I would say MUCH of the "chaos" is purposeful and pushed by people who need chaos to buy themselves time. Futures are at stake, money, power and secrets are at stake. None of it has anything to do with us though, and Trump is probably just an unexpected wild card that was never supposed to win. I'm not opposed to letting him do things his way as long as there is oversight by the House and Senate. I sure don't see the upside to trying to oust him since that wouldn't be good for the country. But I'm old enough to remember when the country publically stood behind the President, even if privately they didn't agree on much. WE are what's making our country weak and/or a laughing stock. WE will never be united behind anyone again so get used to this, it's the future of American politics. At least until something big happens that a lot of people probably won't like. Oh well.
There's just too many "coincidences" here for anybody to defend Trump and his administration. It's indefensible and Trump could do a lot to clear it up but he is unwilling to do so.
There's no "witch hunt". The American people deserve full accountability.
Didn't vote for Trump, but MY opinion is Trump did not collude with them. I think the focus of this investigation is really more about what the Russians tried to do than whether Trump himself helped them. Part of "what the Russians tried to do" could include spies, cyber attacks, etc. so it makes sense to me that they'd look at people in the campaign. That is warranted and I don't see it as a reflection on Trump the man.
That being said, I think if he had played it cool rather than letting his anger about this investigation get to him he wouldn't be in the position he is today. Just like in business, when the CEO fires an auditor or compliance person who is in the middle of an investigation of the executive team, that's a red flag that automatically escalates the issue. That result would've been predictable to anyone, so I don't think he did himself any favors with that.
I keep hearing that Trump did something horrible with the Russians, but I can't seem to ever get anyone to say what specifically they think Trump did.
Anyone care to elaborate?
I think Trump was involved in money laundering for the Russian mob, and got "loans" from shady Russian "businessmen" with ties to Putin and the Kremlin. I don't think he himself was actively involved in the election tampering (the fake news, the Twitter bots, etc) - I think that was largely the work of Flynn, Manafort, Stone, etc. Trump may or may not have known about it though and that's why we need this FBI investigation and special prosecutor Robert Mueller.
I'll say this though, if Trump is completely innocent and people just took advantage of his naivety he sure does have a strange way of displaying it. Firing Comey (and openly declaring it was to stop the investigation) and endlessly ranting on Twitter are making him look guilty as heck.
So since this was originally posted, some other things have come out.
At this point -- no doubt we need to investigate and clear the air.
If everyone -- liberals, conservatives, whoever, accusing Trump of ridiculous collusion is proved wrong. THANK GOD!!!! And can we move on.
This does not take away from my belief that Trump is the wrong man for the job. He just is. Do I think some of his policies have merit? Yes I do. Do I think he is the man to stand as the leader of our country -- absolutely, positively NOT.
There is nothing likable about the guy except he says outrageous things. And that is not enough for me.
I will make no assumptions and let the independent investigation (finally) bring the truth to light.
