Democratic Representative Ted Lieu announced a bill that would require President Trump to reimburse the government for public money spent on travel to properties he owns, such as Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

Quote:
“It is unacceptable for the president to maintain an interest in traveling to properties in which he has a direct financial interest, as the U.S. government is responsible for renting space to personnel in said private commercial entities,” Lieu's bill says, according to The Washington Examiner."

The bill, appropriately named The Stop Waste and Misuse by the President (SWAMP) Act states that such visits result in "the American taxpayer effectively subsidizing the president's businesses."

I'm certainly no Trump fan but how is Donny going to Mar-A-Lago any different than Reagan going to his California ranch, GWB to his Texas ranch, Obama to Hawaii, etc. as well as most if not all recent Presidents thinly disguising campaign trips as Presidential duties?

All I can figure is the others did not sell access in a commercial setting. Trump may have a private residence at Mar A Lago, but it is also a money making venture. They doubled the entry fee when he was elected.

Except for Obama in Hawaii they others were all private homes.

It's not, but it goes to show you how the Dems are out to get Trump as opposed to doing something constructive.

What a waste of time on a virtue signalling bill.

I bet this guy feels really good about his masterpiece.
Like it will see the light of day.

LOL. Remember when the Republicans complained about the cost of Obama golfing? Often on government owned course?

Now look at them scramble to defend a president enriching himself. You are a sad sad lot.

And it would be just as easy to find BS things Reps are doing that are nothing constructive. Are you really silly enough to believe you can throw mud without having it hurled right back at ya?

I think it makes sense. Recall, the budget (which Mr. Trump signed) included 120 Million dollars for Mr. Trump, and family's, security through the remainder of the fiscal year (September 30, 2017). Said amount included 61 million to reimburse local municipalities for their costs.

That is a lot of money, especially for a man that claimed that he would be 'too busy' as President to play golf, and castigated Mr. Obama on several occasions for playing golf.
