Strange pick. Joe was Gore VP candidate in 2000. He's one of McCain's pals and the story goes McCain wanted him to be VP too. Sorry if this sounds age-ist, but Lieberman is now 75. How about picking someone younger. Guess no one retires in DC.
He was state attorney general in Connecticut, so there's that. He also had the chairmanship of Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs when he was a senator.
Oh shoot Bob, I see you beat me to it. Good job.
Met him several times. I know his background. I am beyond delighted. In any admin, I want JL to play a role. Tremendous leader. Truly country above party.
This is what you base your argument on? I would respected your argument more if you brought up the the fact that all the intelligence services dropped the ball on 9/11 in general. But this this is weak.

No agent should be considered.

This agency needs to become competent again. Its been a disaster for the last few decades.
Question. How competent do you find the department of homeland security to be?

Explain exactly to me why joe Lieberman is better than Mike Rogers? Give me detail?

I would not want a Homeland Security guy, either. FBI needs an outsider to lead them. Not a status quo promoter. I am not convinced the agency should exist, as IMO if it can't stop jihadists, it has no relevant purpose.
It was at its height 80 years ago when local law enforcement was Barney Fife. Today NYPD has ME based cops. Sophisticated anti terrorism squads. And they catch bank robbers on their own.

Lieberman was the chairman of the committee for the creation of homeland security.
At 75 he's too old to learn & take on a new role - a 10 year gig - and head an agency he knows little about. He wouldn't be effective, just a caretaker. McCabe would effectively be running the show.
