Read that article above. This is what it looks like when an authority figure does not want to be questioned. That IS a direct threat to the press.
I assume you supported the Citizens United decision.

How is Trump more transparent?

The only way he is transparent is via his tweets, which is what is getting him three times the media attention that Obama got because he says things that aren't checked by his staff.

Yeah, but even they drive on the right. Agree?

Because the Obama administration was pretty top secret about a whole lot of things.

I'm not saying Trump is transparent, I'm saying at this point he is more transparent than Obama.

Funny thing is that Trump's team has not even said how it would be possible to overturn over 200 years of case law relating to libel in this country alone, or that laws vary by state, or that they would need to take on a provision of the First Amendment of the Constitution, where only the one occupation/private endeavor mentioned in that document is specifically given rights. It is laughable that Trump even said this.

So, you believe it's good to do things like make up quotes?

Nothing says fake news like fake news.
Do you understand how this is a slippery slope once you give the government the power to bring libel lawsuits against the media? You think it's gonna stop at "made up quotes" if some future President doesn't like some press group asking certain questions? You must be terribly naive if so.

And frankly, if you want to go after made up quotes, then why not start with Trump and his mouthpieces like Breitbart and Infowars? You think those guys are paragons of journalistic integrity?

Whoa! Trump refusing to hold press conferences and denying reporters access while awarding access to ONE member of the foreign press? That does not compute to the PRESS attacking free speech.

Well, thank you there, Captain Vagueness. Let's not let this get too specific!

Guess what? The job description of President involves being "pretty top secret about a whole lot of things."

Yes, I know some people are so partisan they can't see it.
Obviously they don't do a good job -- look who's still President.

When the media puts out stories about Trump's refusal to release tax returns when every other presidential candidate for the past 40 years has been willing to be transparent, that's relevant and it matters.

When the media put out stories about Trump's firing of Comey and the implications given the timing and the ongoing FBI investigation of his administration, that's relevant and it matters.

And it's ironic that you mention facts, when you have an administration here that has been caught red-handed in enormously brazen lies about even trivial things, like inaugural crowd sizes. The number of lies Trump has put out are staggering. When the media reports them, that's relevant and it matters.

I get that it doesn't play out in the way you want it, but that IS the media doing what the media should do. And if Trump doesn't want stories like this coming out, then he can start by not shooting himself in the foot with moves like the aforementioned. Instead, he seems to think that his conduct should just not be questioned.
Please...you're playing up the MSM like they're a bunch of Eagle Scouts just looking to do good for the country.

Approximately 90% of the MSM votes for Democrats. So surprise surprise, look how the media treats Trump...Study: 91 percent of coverage on evening newscasts was negative to Donald Trump - POLITICO

So we should ignore that inconvenient truth?

The MSM is out for blood. They want their Watergate. They want to take Trump down. They use lies, smears and innuendo. They publish leaked intel from our intelligence services.

You folks on the left don't see it that way because you despise Trump too and would love to see him driven out of office. Then when the right gets upset you folks post sanctimonious bs threads like this.

You folks can take your hypocrisy and shove it.
