Yet. I am a liberal Democrat. Those who oppose and ridicule my faith are OK with me. Jesus died for them just as much as he died for me. Yeah, I think Matthew Shepard's family and friends would disagree. And he's far from the only person killed in the name of Christianity. That doesn't mean all Christians are murderers but there is plenty of Christian doctrine that is violent and that has been used over centuries to justify murder and other horrific behavior.

I condemn hypocritical Christians who want to impose their religion on everyone but don't want to help the poor or the weak. I also condemn then for supporting a man for President who talks of grabbing women's ***** and forcibly kissing them and cheating on 2 if not 3 of his wives.

Same holds true for Muslims.

Enough already! You're persecuted Christians that have sit by and watch Muslims takeover the whole world!

We get it! Ok?
I'm agnostic and don't believe in any organized religion. I believe religion served a good purpose in the past, but has no place in modern society. However, I don't care what people believe as long as it isn't pushed on me.

JFK cheated on his wife, but everyone considered one of the better presidents. Same with Bill Clinton.

I judge the man by the job he does, not what he does on his private time. Tiger Woods to me will always be one of the greatest, if not greatest golfer ever to walk the planet. But he cheated on his wife numerous times and got caught. As a role model, he's last on my list. Trump is pretty far down the list as well, but I want to see what he gets done on the job.

I condemn a-holes and violent idiots. These can be found among Christians, Muslims and elsewhere in the world of religion as well as among the secular.

I don't even think it's that.

Many liberals, particularly the younger ones, fetishize it as something exotic and different. And we're supposed to cheer things on for being "different", right?

Well, the topic of Muslims is a perfect opportunity for people to flex their "I'm-sooo-openminded-and-cultured" muscles. Or to give them more benefit of the doubt, they are simply intrigued by the opportunity to be around something different, and don't want any attempts to stop that.

They think like this because they don't really actually know much about Islam or the cultures of the countries where the religion predominates. So it's not a reality for them yet, just a glamourized source of possible new trends. "OMG kohl eyeliner! Turkish coffee! Falafels!"

It's easy to see the best of something from afar - when you can pick and choose which aspects and differences of the religion/culture you want to involve yourself with. Not as easy when you're regularly rubbing elbows with people who are fully immersed in that religion or culture.

Maybe we can indoctrinate them with a month-long sabbatical in Raqqa.

Fine in theory if you could be sure to screen people as being violent idiots before they could immigrate.

Be even better if we could both be sure violent idiots didn't get in and we could deport the violent idiots (of any culture, natural or foreign-born) currently residing here.

But that's Fanstasyland.
