Anything for attention these days.
Protesting is a fad right now.
If these students were mature, they would respect the speaker even if they don't agree with him.
They would stay and listen.
That way they would have knowledge from his view points and they would have reason to have a mature discussion on what they disagree with.
By walking out they are acting like babies and will allow themselves to become ignorant.
I don't know, Atalanta, those traits seem to fit a certain man who temporarily resides in a white house, if you ask me. You don't seem to mind , or notice, that he fits that description to a T.

A kind of poetic beauty in this protest being at a religious school given that Pence's boss just signed an XO aimed at giving religious groups a freer voice in politics.

I suspect if it was a more liberal speaker at a conservative school you wouldn't feel so strongly about someone showing their lack of support for the speaker's agenda.
BUT -- I will admit I don't know that for sure.
I just find that we tend to excuse behavior when it supports our agenda and we aren't so tolerant otherwise.

It doesn't matter if they did research or not.
Stay and take advantage of the great opportunity to hear things straight from him, Pence.

That's their right. It is important they stand up for what they believe in.
Lots of talk on liberal talk shows how it is not okay to boo someone when talking but more effective to stand up and walk out or stand and turn back to show -- I do not support your agenda.
I disagree with you.
That shows ignorance and lack of dignity.
