The state department usually has a person that goes over all the protocols for how to act when going aboard and take part in ceremonies like that, but Trump fired so many people at the SD and hasn't bothered to replace them that they probably no longer have a person to do those kinds of briefing. OR Mr. Trump is too egotistical to listen or too stupid to learn.
