A lot of you won't like this, but THIS is the best calculator for an average person (and trust me, most everyone is average).
According to who? What fat percentage, what muscle mass, etc? That too is way too simplistic. Someone could be those weights and be in **** poor shape because they don't have muscle, and so on. Also, want to be taken more seriously? Use obese instead of fatties.

That wasn't always so. Those are counties who care more about tax income, than the health of their residents. Parents can only do so much, but for at least two meals their kids are out of their sight with cash in hand.

Why can't the parents make the lunch for the younger ones and have the teenagers make their own ?

And at least 2 meals ? Lunch and what else ?

Just like many other things, education starts at home.

I used to be a myself. Lost 47 pounds, went from a size 14 to a size 6. Kept it off, too.

That's nifty. Good for you, sincerely. However, still doesn't mean you should use the word in a discussion. Makes your opinion more shallow if you resort to names.

I was in Costco today and you had to see all the obese people running around. Put down the 10lb bag of potato chips and find a treadmill. Yes there are exceptions to every rule. However come on. Do you look in the mirror and think its ok to be obese? In general(not always) its very unhealthy to be overweight. PS I am 5 10 160 pounds . I was 190 at one point and I had to make a change. I go to the gym 7 days a week. I hate going to the gym. However go to the gym and be in great shape or sit at home and get fat. Not much of a choice for me. I choose the gym every time!!

Just for some info, here are the adult obesity rates in the US broken down by State:

Adult Obesity in the United States: The State of Obesity

Some stunners here...California is among the healthiest States...and the 'Mountain Dew' States the worst!

Since being young, Americans have been brainwashed and conditioned into stuffing their faces with food.

And it's getting worse. The portion sizes these days is much larger than it was years ago. For example, a medium fries at McDonald's today is what used to be a large before. Chain restaurants pride themselves on stuffing your plate with ever increasing amounts of food.

So it is hard to get used to eating smaller portions when most of your life has been conditioned to eating til you feel like puking.

And the choice of foods are horrible, all full of saturated fats, cholesterol, refined sugars and oils.

And no, things like the keto diet are NOT the answer to the obesity epidemic, thank you.

The other meal would be breakfast.

There was a adage years ago that with the introduction of computers families will have more time to spend with each other. The opposite has occurred. Employers now want more to be done and the current saying is "Do more with less". When 1st period at a school is around 8am (mine was 7:15), do you really think that there is any real family time in the morning?
