You still don't get it. Trump does this with everyone in his life. He did it through the campaign by bulling the other candidates. People loved watching because they wanted to see Trump lash out and trash his opponents.
Trump is not President of the US with the largest and best gang in the world.. You really think his personality is going to ponder "other ways of getting to the front"?

Obviously, this isn't gonna start a war (although, wars have been fought over less)...but what an inconsiderate ass. There are much better ways for accomplishing the same thing. The smug look and "let me stop and readjust my coat" maneuver just said it all, too.
That's Trump in a nutshell. Literally everything is about "winning".
The Cult is an amazing creature. Instead of accepting this was an incredibly rude move, as they would had it literally been anyone else in the entire world, they excuse it away by claiming the video is fake or worse yet insist it was a strong and bold move by our leader.

There is another side to this- I think some people are agruing over what you stated. However, I think others are trying to put it into context.
Yes, there is no denying, Trump bogarted his way. It was a display of sheer/crude behavior- much more, a display of US POWER. However, it is something that we all need to accept because this is WHO he is. Hopefully he curbs it but this is very natural to a man of his life long experience. The guy has been around almost everyone in the world so to him, it's nothing. He doesn't give a what because he is the leader of the free world. Again, I am explaining where this mentality comes from - for good or for worse.
All this has to do with emotional/social dynamics. If you want to learn more of why he does this, here is a video. People like the Canadian prime minister anticipated Trump yanking him and had to act accordingly, which tells you a lot of how people in power PRE-CALCULATE their interactions when on center stage..
Watch how they both attempted to execute their own levels of dominance.
