I'm afraid you are going by the media of the past. Read Sharyl Attkisson's book to see how the modern leftist media does things;
She is a professional and a moderate who went after Republicans with gusto. She points out how she was encouraged and the bell of the ball when she did, yet when she did the same to Obama & Co, she was cut off at the knees and became persona non grata.

Those are restrictions and changes that Obama added to the up until then insanely unrestricted spying that was going on. Those changes are what led to the self reporting that you folks are screaming treason about.
