Trump is whining constantly about the trade deficit. The trade deficit is financed by capital exports from Europe to the U.S. Capital flows in the same direction as the goods. These capital exports strengthen the U.S. economy. Europe invest much more in the U.S. than the U.S. invest in Europe.
Without the trade deficit the living standard in the U.S. would be lower. Americans would be forced to work even longer hours to compensate the missing goods.
In the fourth quarter 2016 the net international investment position of the U.S. was -$8,109,700,000,000. That's the amount the U.S. owes the rest of the world. Mathematically, every American owes about €25,000 to the rest of the world.
Every German do without the consumption of goods worth about $800 every year to make living in the U.S. a little bit more bearable.
So, by your numbers we are not only exporting money from the US for NATO but also in goods.

You know what is funny about Trump budget.....Obama's proposed budget was voted down 99-0 in the senate and 414-2 in the house. In fact Obama never pass a single budget even when they had a super majority in both houses.

You're talking about abandoning an entire continent that we rely on for intelligence and joint military operations because you have it in your head that they're not paying enough. Are you unable to read? There is a surplus in the goods and capital flows from Europe to the U.S. To pay for this the U.S. sends just $ banknotes. These $ banknotes are useless until the U.S. starts to export more goods and services to the rest of the world than it receives from abroad. To achieve a current account surplus Americans have to tighten their belts massively.
Trump is not the first to criticize Europeans for their lack of allocating funds for defense purposes. Both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton spoke of the need for Europeans to spend more on defense during the 2016 presidential campaign,

There is already a deal, they just aren't abiding by it. They've been told many times, by many officials that they need to pay their agreed upon percentage and they continue to ignore it. It's about time we get more aggressive about it.
