So Chatman went to trial. It turns out that during the trial, the police had no evidence for the case. They didn’t find a weapon. They didn’t recover any money. There was no video. In fact, the clerk who identified Chatman ID’d him on Facebook over a year after the robbery. So the jury found Chatman not guilty of all charges.
Here's the local news report with pictures from the armed robbery. The pictures are too grainy to ID anyone and the officers were unable to get any fingerprints. Although the clerk described the tattoo under his eyes, she didn't have anything else correct. To be noted, he pled guilty, entering an Alford plea which probably didn't help his case.
He could've taken the alford plea because he thought he was going to be convicted and wanted a reduced sentence. Even though he was innocent.
I've had to do it before to save my business. There was no evidence against me but there were corrupt Police.
