Oh geez. It's one night and I would be perfectly fine if there was a male-only version. No one is oppressed really in this situation, except the poor men who somehow could have only ever seen Wonder Women in this one theater on this one night. Far different than what you are implying.
1. Time and occurrence are irrelevant to the event.
2. Your approval does not invalidate the issue.
3. The issue isn't about oppression, it is about hypocrisy and double standards.
4. Mocking doesn't validate your position, in fact... it shows contempt in the face of the occurrence.

Uh, in this thread, people tried to pull the "Women would all be offended by a men-only showing" I was simply trying to show the rational point that no, not all women would care
. It's mocking to point out that it would be silly if there were somehow men up in arms because they were missing out on this very specific one showing out of thousands? They can just deign to not give Alamo Drafthouse their money and show them that way. Not this silly outrage when a one off men-only night would be also acceptable to rational people.

Most of us understood what you were saying, it was quite clear.
Some people on here act incompetent on purpose so they can misinterpret what you said in order to push their agendas. Others truly are just incompetent.

True, not all women would be offended. However, some of the more vocal ultra-feminist would protest such a male only showing harking back to men's only clubs as examples of what to fight against. These same ultra-feminist remain silent or supportive of this women only showing. To make a day to exclude people of one sex is "sexual"discrimination by liberal standards. By social and political standards, their business, their decision.

Who cares what ultra feminists do? They don't represent the whole of the liberal view (as far as I understand, not being either),nor all women. There are very, uh, fervent women's and men's rights advocates on both sides. If those offended also believe in their business, their decision (cakes, anyone?), hold to your (general) position here too.
Stop playing what's good for the goose is also for the gander and The Other Side does it and deal with it as you would with any business who had practices you don't like: just don't go there.

They may not represent the majority, but the are the most vocal and get higher representation in news and celebrities.
Yes, because that will really show them! How does this seem like a rational response to the situation? That's like child-level thinking. Adult people would just stop patronizing the Alamo Drafthouse with their dollars should this innocent one off (well, two now since the first sold out) showing be so offensive, or something like that.
I still want to know how they are going to enforce the fluidity part. They made a statement that they are going to make sure only women and those that identify as one are allowed in. I guess you just say "I feel like a woman today" and you're in?
