A few weeks back I got stopped for speeding. Said hello and and handed the officer what he requested. Then I made a joke about his radar and my speedometer both being exactly accurate or both exactly wrong. I ended up with a "operated a vehicle illegally" or something like that which is the equivalent of a littering fine. I thanked him for giving me a break and I was on my way... less than ten minutes altogether.

Point is don't act like an ass. The officer here could of politely told him why but that's no excuse for escalating the situation and getting yourself arrested. If a cop is tramling on your rights take it to court.

You've got all day, just let the machismo go and tell the guy why you pulled him over. It's that simple.

Stop with the stupid notion that it's okay for police go from 0 to 100 instantly. They need to learn to exhaust all peaceful means. All the idiot cop had to do was say why he pulled him over and write his little tickets. Amazing that people argue that civilians should essentially bend over and spread their cheeks.

And the nerve of you to bring up thinking critically. LOL...If the cop had thought critically he would have said, "man i see this civilian getting mad, let me just tell him why, so i can write my ticket and go home safely...this is the part of the interaction i have control over...this civilian might be having a bad day...and it's not like he is being crazy he's just asking me questions..."

It's clear you've lost all objectivity when it comes to cops. Nothing you've posted accurately portrays what happened.

You want to be the alpha in this situation and insist they drop their ego and do their job the way you think they should? Have at it, but don't act surprised and outraged by the outcome.

That's exactly right. Too many trigger-happy nutjobs with badges and guns. I'll just comply and get the H out of there as quickly as I can. I don't need to prove anything to anybody.

Yep, Yes Sir, No Sir, How High Should I Jump, Sir? Works for me.

The first words out of this cops mouth is "How are you doing sir."

Is there a reason I should not be polite with someone who is being polite with me and just doing their job? You can't refuse to give an officer your information when driving a car.

If I had a reason to be angry perhaps it may be different. I was speeding and he caught me... nothing more to it.

I'm pretty sure that kind of stuff was stopped before most of us were born.

A while back I read a book about the history of surveillance, and it said that basically the whole mechanism of ID and surveillance stemmed from American slavery.
