Seems his issue is with the tax breaks the elderly get. Oh, and he is t apologizing for his words. He stands behind them. He wants the elderly out so younger people can move into those homes to pay property taxes.
Guess he doesn't have much of a political future. Recently Clinton told miners in Pennsylvania she wanted to destroy their jobs. You can see how well insulting your base works for politicians.
I don't even understand what he's arguing. If he opposes the tax credit, that's fine, but what's this nonsense about "the elderly running our city?" Paying property tax does not give you more authority. This isn't 1790; you don't need property to vote... and even then, you didn't technically need it to participate.

He is right on principle though.
My area has a budget shortfall for education after people over 65 were told they didnt have to pay property taxes. It didnt make sense, nor does it now.
i believe we have the 3rd largest school system in the states, and spend the least per student, so the money isnt even wasted like some would claim.
This guy is dangerous. He says there should be a Program to get elderly people out of their homes. Maybe jackboots can put them on trains to Florida "resorts" - aka Soylent Green factory.
The alderman also happens to be over age 65 and he exaggerates about property values. He appears to be jealous of the old lady's nicer house. She has probably owned it for years, got it paid off and now she is supposed to leave because of outrageous property taxes. The credit is not a lot but it can allow elderly on fixed incomes to stay in their homes. This idiot is making it sound like she is hoarding her real estate, and doesn't have a right to live there because it has appreciated in value and she is not rolling in cash. It's her home, moron.
Certainly if we can fund refugees and welfare families we can keep a tax credit to allow elderly people to live in the homes they paid for.
It seems lately a lot of people are jealous of those who have money or property, even if hard earned over many years. They cannot hide their contempt.
