The press loved Obama so it was fun for him to get up infront of his fan base and have a chat.

The press hates Trump so I don't blame him for trying to avoid them. They have proved that they are unwilling to print the positive that he does but instead they are all digging for that "Gotcha moment".
It is getting so bad that if Trump told them the sky was blue they would report that there were actually a few clouds present.

It has nothing to do with Trump trying to lead us all down some totalitarian path way to a dictatorship. It is all abotu the press not treating him fairly.
Who would want to get beat up every day?

My best guess is that the Countries that the Trumps visited were not interested in the American press that feels it is their duty to Take Down the President of the United States - they held no press availabilities that have become nothing more than a Rabid Dog attack on the US President.

The US Leftist Media is reaping what they have sown.
If reaping what they have sown is, exposing Donny as ill prepared to be President, and lacking the courage to face a free press, representing tax paying Americans, than you and I are in agreement.

I agree, if President Trump solves the North Korea situation or an Israel-Pal peace deal etc. the mainstream media will be absolutely devastated, and will find fault with it.
