More Americans are buried alive than are killed by terrorism. What I am about to say is going to be misconstrued by the right wingers here, so I invite you to read the whole post and consider it for at least five seconds before you start coming up with names to call me. But the whole argument about national security and securing our borders is largely tools to get votes and divide us as a nation.
Yes, there are bad people out there who want to do harm to good people. Manchester is the most recent example of that. 9/11 is the example everyone thinks off. Those people who died that day are used for just about every bad policy argument that gets the light of day in Washington. Where I live, I am far more likely to be killed by a meth head's house being blown up than by terrorism. We're all more likely to be killed in a car wreck than by terrorism.
So politicians get to fool you and use you with talk about "securing our borders" which is really more about securing their votes on Election Day more than anything. Use common sense with border patrol and national security. Stop strip searching Grandma when she flies off to see her grandkids. Stop scaring well meaning Americans into thinking that any brown person they see on the streets means to do us harm
Oh, this is the link about being "buried alive." I'm sure it's just more liberal lies.
Meanwhile terrorists have declared war on the USA and a tiny contingent of fundamental islamists have wiped out the greater part of the population of christians in the ME.
Terrorists so loved America they chose to not to commit anymore acts of terrorism here.
ISIS is the jv team, what's the big deal
"what me worry?".... a quote from the dim witted cartoon character Alfred E Newman.
No need for a tetnus shot
No need for rabies shot if bitten by a wild animal
No need for a small pox shot
Hey what are your chances of dying from tetnus, rabies or small pox?
Fables about waiting until you are personally affected
'first they came for the socialists'
'the ant and the grasshopper'
no need for a fire extinguisher in your home or need to wear seat belt or carry a spare tire
The intended idea is that if condition A is bad, but Condition B is worse, that does not make Condition A not bad anymore. Should be obvious, but in the liberal mind, it is not.
If you've got pneumonia and a dangerous heart condition, don't fight the pneumonia--that's Liberal Logic.
That's not what I mean at all. Obviously, terrorism is real and we should keep the fight on it. We should vet those trying to get into the country as we have done. But we should realize that sometimes what we do to fight the evil in the world can also be just as dangerous. We are willingly giving up freedoms and liberties to fight terrorism. We're giving up freedoms to be free!

You do know that we can't declare war back on ISIS without recognizing ISIS as a sovereign nation? This is the main reason we haven't gone to war with ISIS. We can only go to war with nations. We can't do it unless we recognize ISIS is a sovereign nation.

Joe, those of us who get our information from more than one source, or who seek out information rather than affirmation, have known this all along.
But politicians know there is a large group of Americans who are susceptible to fear mongering. Fear sells. The facts are often boring. And those same Americans are less prone to do any investigation on their own. If they do, it's usually of the sort that results in affirming their new belief.
I applaud your efforts to educate in the face of of so much resistance to facts. Die-hard party supporters got that way by politicians repeatedly hammering them with propaganda so it's going to take a lot to unite our country again. And thanks to a president who thrives on dividing America, have a lot of work to do.

Immigration, foreign policy, domestic security... are major ****ing issues in the entire world now. If you don't want to hear about them, I suggest not watching the news.
Overall, gun violence is a much greater risk for Americans than a terrorist attack.
"In 2014 88 Americans were shot dead, on average, every day: 58 killed themselves while 30 were murdered. In that same year 18 Americans were killed by terrorist attacks in the US. Put more starkly: more Americans were killed by firearms roughly every five hours than were killed by terrorists in an entire year."
The fearmongering continually perpetrated by the right is a either cover for their innate racism or a display of their sheer ignorance. Probably a combination of both.
Based on your graphic, Americans were at least 7 times more likely to be killed by terrorists than killed by a toddler.
If you simply show up at any hospital in America, you can be treated.
After I lost my employer provided insurance because I missed two payments (while in the hospital) I was told this too. I got out of the hospital (who took a serious hit because of my insurance) but my infection came back. I went to another hospital and was literally writhing in pain. They asked what number my pain level was and I kept saying ten just because I didn't want to do Spinal Tap and say 11. Worst pain ever. Constant pain, too
They ran tests, gave me some pain killer and then found out my insurance situation. Suddenly they couldn't get me out of there fast enough. They said there was nothing wrong with me and sat me in the waiting room for my ride to come. I was in so much pain that I kept groaning and people beside me were like, "this man needs to be seen before me." Not realizing I had been seen and was being sent home.
My teenaged son picked me up and was smart enough to realize something was wrong. He took me to another hospital out of town, where they saw me, ran a few tests and put me in the hospital for five weeks on antibiotics. They said the sepsis was back and if I had just taken the word of the first hospital, I would have died. A nurse told me the first hospital I went to was known for not finding anything wrong with folks with little to no insurance. So, yeah, just show up at any hospital.

Yes..this is been my number one fear since the passage of the Homeland Security bill.
Fighting terrorism has become the 'no questions asked' reason for the eroding of our privacy and the justification for many extra-legal acts.
The phrase, "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear", is a lie!
Thousands of people are killed every year by people using guns. And we're worried about terrorists?
