The true statesman that could have done that was Mitt Romney, but he was accused of everything from gay bullying to animal abuse to outright murder. You don't want a "true statesman," you want only a Democrat.
And...You are, of course, wrong on most of what you claim. The Democratic party shares in the blame for the terrible travesty of a vitriolic state of affairs in our political system. Running Hillary Clinton was a fatal mistake, no doubt about that, and the Republican acceptance of Trump as their choice was equally divisive. My view of Mitt is the same as my views regarding most of the meat headed types we've seen in American politics of late.
I'm very disappointed in the Press creating stories from anonymous sources and innuendo. The MSM has lost all credibility with me.
I don't get tired of anonymous people on social media who vent about the President and call Republicans names. Their opinions are relevant only to them.
That's kinda where I am. When silly people get goofy on forums, I just put them on ignore. I was doing that before the election. I doubt their opinions are even their honest opinions. They just repeat nonsense they heard or think what someone told them to think.
I was once a news hound. I couldn't imagine missing the evening news and the Sunday morning shows. These days, I don't even turn on my TV unless it's still on from something else and I can't get to the remote because I'm busy cooking or quilting or doing something with my hands. When the likes of Muir, Holt, and whatever that CBS guy's name is start their evening dialog with words like, "The disaster in the White House...", I know it's time to tune out. And I do.

Per the bolded---That's what Trump Derangement Syndrome does to some people. They become consumed with all things Trump.
I've heard people call themselves liberal. I've never heard any of them call one another liberal "typical obnoxious liberal type"
I've heard people call themselves conservative. I've never heard any of them call another conservative "typical obnoxious conservative type"
So lepoisson, you were saying?
Remember that obnoxious professor from Mizzou who got fired? That's what I mean by "obnoxious liberal type". Remember Jesse Helms? That's what I mean by "obnoxious conservative type.
Both are extreme left or extreme right and don't represent the majority of a party.
My friend (actually, more than an acquaintance) hates guns and thinks they should be banned, but is all for equal rights for everyone. So like most "typical obnoxious liberal types", she respects all amendments except for the second.
And the obnoxious conservative types of people always blab about "small government" unless it involves abortion or LGBT bathroom laws.
There is nothing unreasonable about calling a jackass a jackass.
