The 30-year historical average (1981-2010) for the Atlantic Basin is 12 named storms, six hurricanes and three major hurricanes. A major hurricane is of Category 3 strength or higher on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.

NOAA issued its forecast at the end of May and called for:

Eleven to 17 named storms – including April's Tropical Storm Arlene.
Five to nine of which would become hurricanes.
Two to four of which would become major hurricanes."

And? The averages have been way down, we are due. That is why they call them averages.

If you wouldn't consider something like a set of mathematical formulas laid out in defense of a counter-argument on a blog, then WHY are you even discussing this on City Data Forums? It's cute, I guess, that you think this wasn't about knocking the US down a peg, that you think all the other countries will meet their voluntary requirements, and that you think if we just have enough top-down authority we can impact long-term planetary climate. You have a lot of faith. Yup, he assumed the annointed one would assume the throne and that the wave of global statist leadership could not be stopped.
It is not surprising that people in the USA believe that news and media outlets are liars and authors of fake news. The President of the USA has said that it is true, so for people in the USA it is true. For the rest of the world, it is not true.

The blog addressed the antarctic, the article I linked addresses the much more serious problems in the arctic.

Because you clearly don't understand, and still don't.

If you live in a desert, it's easy to predict.

I live in a area close to the sea. My work is often dependent on the weather. So many times that the weather reported severe storm, but it turned into a bright sunny day.

Put this into the global level, how can we predict 100 years in the future?

What about spotting agendad reporting bias and lazy incurious mainstream conformity?

I don't understand why you are referencing grade 8 math ... this is true. I can say "derivative" and "integral", but that doesn't mean I've said something meaningful.

Let me turn that around for you. It is not surprising that globalists and authoritarians have succeeded in convincing a lot of the world that the mainstream media carries unassailable truth that shall never be questioned as to its aims and agenda.
