I cut the quote off where I did because I totally agree. This is smart business only so that Obama could mug for the cameras. And enjoy Elton John's entertainment.

Yet Trump's business advisors advised him NOT to withdraw from the Agreement. Because they understand where the jobs are in the future.
And it ain't coal, my dear, no many how many rivers they are now allowed to pollute.
Here's a money quote from independent energy consultant Paul Bledsoe.
Quote:
"Trump is fighting the battle from 10 years ago when coal had a chance.”
Quote:
It’s difficult to overstate how directly this revanchist agenda collides with both the marketplace and policy at all other levels. All of Trump’s key moves affecting electricity generation, for instance, are intended to bolster coal. But coal’s share of power generation has declined for years, first under pressure from lower-cost natural gas, and now from increasingly affordable solar and wind. Since 2002, federal data show, utilities have retired more than twice as much coal-generating capacity as they have added. In 2016 alone, the amount of new capacity utilities added in wind and solar—including small-scale decentralized resources like rooftop solar arrays—equaled the total amount of coal power brought online over the past 15 years. Privately, the utility industry has even urged Trump to uphold the Paris Agreement. “Trump is fighting the battle from 10 years ago when coal had a chance,” independent energy consultant Paul Bledsoe told me.
Trump's latest stupid decision is just more pandering to the right-ring knuckledraggers that elected him.
Denying climate science is not going to change it, and polluting the air and water is not going to "make America great again," or even bring back any jobs.
Right-wing stooges love this type of crap because they are so heavily invested in science denial that reality no longer matters. Some of it, of course, it disbelief in climate change, but they also hate science because it speaks out against their bigotry (gays are evil, blacks are inferior, etc.) and doesn't support their religious views. Regardless of the cause, the result is backward idiocy like Trump's latest actions.
Not a single good thing will come from this decision, and Trump-suckers will still love even though they wouldn't want to drink toxic water or breath toxic air - no, those should be reserved for "those people" in the inner cities, of course. Idiocy.
