We have no control over climate, but we can certainly control pollution. I just cannot fathom how anyone can believe that we can continue to pollute at the current rate without any repercussions in the future.

Pollution is one of those things that once everyone realizes and accepts that is has the ability to change climate, it's too late.

On another note, it's incredible to think that a few degrees in temperature change is enough to kill all crops for a season.

Default The world is stupid on Climate and general Agreements

Lets see how I can make this plain and simple.

There is a problem in with the rivers of the world, lets say a bug that was created in a lab is killing all life in the seas and rivers slowly over like the next 200 years.

So the worlds leaders say ok, so what we want you to do is the admit we have a problem, and find a solution. Not the solution is your going to pay 500 times more then other countries to fix the rivers. The country who is the biggest level of these bugs and killing the seas and rivers is higher doesnt have to pay for like 13 years. Now for some reason you agreed to this agreement with no actual proveable results, for how long you will give money to other countries to fix the problem, and if its possible to know when or how this agreement will end.

So when the united states says we arent interested in paying 500 percent more then most countries and or some arent paying at all that is called getting out a BAD agreement. You can agree we have a bug problem but even if you agree or disagree on that you should always have a choice to get out of something that just IS NOT FAIR to the people paying the bills.

So when TRUMP gave his speech on this which Most liberals won't listen to, think the solution is for the US to pay for everything. TRUMP basically said we are getting screwed and WE are broke, so when he sees that he got us out of something that is not really even an Agreement. That is one President deciding to willingly give away tax pay money to other countries with no ways to measure success from country to country and the actually impact. This is about "feeling" like your doing something.

May I counter your simplicity ...

Over the past few hundred million years no insect has become extinct, it is beyond the power of humans to make an insect extinct. Should we force many to experience great poverty and hardship to attempt what is impossible?

Default So do you think Trump's withdrawal from the Paris accord was just a ploy?

According to what I heard today, he's saying that he might be amenable to re-negotiating things for more favorable terms to America.

He may have stupidly assumed that, as when he was dictator in his own private company, he could re-negotiate anything. He may have been surprised to hear that Europe has no intention of accommodating him.

Realistically, no re-negotiating will happen. Plus, it's antithetical to what people in his administration, such as Bannon, ultimately want.

I don't see it happening.

This language just feels like throwaway words said to lessen the blow to people that are disappointing by this.

No. Trump looked at the agreement and saw no practical purpose, just pie in the sky goals. No businessman accepts such a thing as a "plan".

Ah, yes - that's the problem with having a supposed "businessman" as president. He's unable to look at anything in larger rational terms, beyond profit and self-serving winning. The idea of a greater good never crosses his mind - as we can see from his limited private life.

Yes, but you're overlooking the proposal to re-negotiate.

sure it was a ploy-look at all these liberal moron Mayors and Governors who pledged to fork over tens of millions of city and state moneys to support it. That lets the federal government off the hook, and we didnt even have to sign the stupid scheme. I just hope the people of NYC appreciate Bloomberg diverting $15 million dollars of city funds to give to some scumbag official who will no doubt skim half of it off for "admin expenses" and in the end, Liberia will get maybe 2 solar panels with whats left of the money.
