His rationale doesn't work because he didn't ban any countries where he had business dealings. If he were truly concerned about our safety why haven't they rolled out the revised vetting procedures ?
I have heard from a very well known Lawyer who is a Supreme Court litigant that the Law on which the Travel Ban is based has been challenged and upheld before (I don't know the case(s)). If you read the law, it is quite clear that the President has the authority to issue such a ban. There is no ambiguity. And the judges in the lower courts overstepped their authority besides, so I feel pretty confident that it will be upheld. If not, as you said, it will be a devastating blow to our Constitutional Republic and Presidential Power, limiting his ability to ensure the safety of the American people, one of his primary duties as President. In effect, it will be making us subjects of the Courts, something that the founders feared. Courts do not make law. They read and interpret the Laws, and issue an opinion, and this only when there is a case before them. They cannot act on their own, and they cannot assume power that has not been given them by the Constitution.

There are more than 50 countries in the world that have a muslim majority and we are talking about first 7 then 6 of the most dangerous countries that Obama himself listed.
Trump wanted a travel pause from these 6 dangerous countries where they chant "Death to America" in the streets.
The other 44 muslim majority countries were not affected by the proposed 90 day pause.
The courts limited the reach of the President due to campaign rhetoric that history has shown only fools believe the half of. Why do they think Trump will make good on everything?
If we have a terrorist attack the blood will be on the hands of the liberal judges who blocked Trumps attempt to protect us and they blocked him simply because they do not like him.

SCOTUS will most likely not give Trump the stay he is asking for..why?
Because there is a time limit involved..90 days...and granting an emergency stay would, in effect, vacate the lower court's rulings without hearing.
After 90 days..it would be moot.
