I hope the mayor doesn't. The only time we get any relief from Trump's inappropriate behavior is when he's overseas.

London Mayor wants to cancel Trump visit
They should cancel, and the Congress should send apology on behalf of the United States. Trump is a disgrace, and our allies need to be assured Trump does not speak for the nation.

Would it be an equal comparison if let us say a NYC mayor said the same thing about the UK Prime Minister?

Or does the London mayor have a higher level of gravitas?

My thinking is that the voice of a mayor should not have any real effect on clearly national level decision. But that is just the Federalism in me talking. Maybe in UK the London mayor plays a more national role than a NYC mayor would in the USA.

I respectfully disagree. Trump may decide to shove PM Theresa May down the stairs or slam a door in her face. British bookmakers should take bets on what Trump will pull.

Maybe, unfortunately, thanks to people like you.

How about we start telling it like it is? Even Theresa May said after this that things need to change in the UK. She's right, and it's not just the UK where things need to change.
No, he said being PREPARED for attacks is part and parcel of living in a big city.

I don't see that that's particularly controversial or fatalist.

After all, it's not like he's yuckking it up sword dancing with the country that furnished a bunch of plane hijacking terrorists on 9/11.

London mayor calls for cancellation of Trump visit to UK | TheHill

The London Mayor has no say on the issue, it's the Queen via the Government that has invited Donald Trump.

I think it would be in everyone's interest if both the Mayor and indeed Donald Trump put an end to this ridiculous war of words and just grew up.

Well, he apparently speaks for 10s of millions of people sadly. But those people are a deluded cult.
