Japan has at times loosened up their visa policies to allow visitors from countries they previously did not allow, and often regretted it. These are all for temporary visitors, but invariably are abused.

Brunei and Singapore are also developed nations that hasn't seen any Islamic terrorist attacks. I don't think Korea has either. But Japan I know has had two (non Islamic) terrorist attacks by lone wolves with an agenda in the last ten years. Akihabara and Sagamihara.

Germany has the second most immigrants in the world (next to the US, obviously) so it can get younger. Outside of Monaco, Japan has the oldest population of any country. Their women have, on average 1.41 children. You need every woman in a population to have 2.1 children to have zero population growth. Japan has more people emigrating than immigrating. They are in trouble unless they allow for more immigration.

You do know that "immigrants" and "terrorists" are not synonyms, right?

I will never understand why some people feel the need to blame Western countries for the barbaric behavior of Islamic terrorists. You can't justify a knife attack on a waitress in London, or the bombing of teen concert, by pointing to globalism.

Not to mention the fact that the primary reason most Jihadist's are opposed to joining the modern global order is because they want to force everyone to adhere to Sharia Law. To believe that the Islamic terrorists would simply leave us alone if we isolated ourselves economically and diplomatically from the rest of the World is the height of ignorance.

Japan is just as involved in global trade and diplomacy as most Western powers. They do have the 3rd largest economy after all. And Japanese citizens have been killed frequently by Islamic terrorists when they travel abroad. The difference is they don't allow Muslims to immigrate to Japan. Hence, no terror in Japan.

And Brunei is a majority Muslim nation, too. Singapore has a considerable percentage (15%). Malaysia, also a Muslim-majority nation, hasn't had one to my recollection in recent years.

OTOH, the good old USA - well, we think it's OK for 31,000 folks to die from gun deaths every year 'cause we love our guns sooo much.

Terror outfit choose targets which are very difficult to collapse and make the developed nations feel weaker and they also make sure that the attack creates an hard imprint on the developed countries and prove the whole world that it is safe no where.

No system can deter all forms of terrorism, especially in places with high footfalls. Developing a degree of social immunity to terrorism seems important to make it less attractive to terrorists.

Keep them out seems like a reasonable solution.

Japan has a long history of overtly and subtly discouraging Christianity. Perhaps that's why mass murders are extremely rare there, compared to the US?
