Trump's polling has always underrated him, sometimes well outside any margin of error. From Fall 2015 until now, he's been "reported" as being the least popular human being in the United States, yet he won the nomination and then the general election despite all these polls saying it simply cannot be so.
If I have learned anything from this perfectly repeatable and reliable pattern, it is that any vote for Trump that is shared between two or more people will underrate him, and secret polls, like election votes, will more properly assess his popularity. It is a social faux pas to openly admit to liking Trump, but in secret, it turns out more people like him than many are willing to admit.
