Astounding that 35% still think he's doing a good job. What possible evidence could they be basing this assessment on?
Obviously, you have some people who continue to hope that Mr. Trump will make good on many of his promises. And, after all, it is but six months into the Presidency.
There is also an element of psychology at play. It is well known that some people that have been 'conned' by a con man will, even when presented with the evidence that they have been ripped off, will continue to express their belief in the con artist, and that 'something' must have prevented him from fulfilling whatever promise was made.
Plus, there have been studies showing that the less education one has, the more unlikely it is that such a person will change his or her opinion about some matter.
You did have many, during Watergate (I was one) that kept firmly on Mr. Nixon's side, even in face of mounting evidence, and whom believed that Mr. Nixon would be vindicated in the end.
Part of my belief, I think, was due to my youth, and my appreciation that the draft ended in January 1973 (which Nixon had promised to do in his 1968 campaign) and the Vietnam war was winding down ('peace with honor', although we know what happened).
Indeed, I think that even when Mr. Nixon resigned, he still enjoyed a 30 percent approval rating (I do not recall the exact figure, but read it here on CD by someone).
My theory is there are far more billionaires than we know about. All these secret wealthy people are happy that Trump is sticking it to the masses.
Must be.
Trump and the Republicans are scurrying around getting rid of burdensome laws like financial advisors being required to work in their clients' best interests and corporations being required to reveal bribes. They're gutting environmental regulations and Dodd-Frank, while making it legal to sell our browsing histories. And this is just what we know about.
Though no one will fess up, rumor has it Republicans are working up another version of Trumpcare and a tax reform bill, both of which will, oddly enough, involve tax breaks for the rich. What a coincidence, eh?
None of this bodes well for most Americans.
Which is like why Trump's disapproval numbers are at 65%.

Many thought it was no big deal. He hadn't actually been involved in the break in. Democrats do it too.
I have several relatives who went to their graves believing he was set up.
Polls predicted Hillary would win by a landslide. They mean nothing.
She won the popular vote by over 2 million votes...the national polls were right.
