Depends on what metric you're using? Are you asserting that Trump promised he'd bring back coal to pre-NAFTA years? If so, when did he make that claim? Or any specific metric for that matter. Coal country produced 400 new jobs last month. That's 400 people who now have paychecks.

400 people isn't blip on the radar of employment.....more people work as travel agents than in all coal mining...but by all means keep dreaming that DT will end natural gas and bring us back to the 19th and early 20th centuries....all the while the rest of the world moves towards green energy. More people work in free energy than coal in the US- perhaps Trump should focus on that and making US the world leader in green tech/energy to help put those people back to work...but alas its easier to get elected by blaming foreigners and brown people for the problems of the rust belt and the south than telling the truth....

Trump never had a plan... He only had the bluster of pretentious claim, bigoted condemnation against our system, our past president, and against any regulatory structure that would not allow him to fleece, contaminate, encroach and what ever else that he could think to do in the chase for money.

If the "Death by Constructive Process" such as the Republican Health Care Bill did not wake up his core of people worshiping him, then nothing will awaken his core supporters. Follow that up with his "give to the rich" and take from the poor, while making the poor pay for what is given to the rich. What does it take to bring his core to "think" and "learn", they continually chase doom, by being fixated on a mirage as they continue to promote their own destitution.

Trump took a page from a former Megalomaniac

Propaganda Minister, "Paul Joseph Goebbels"

To attract people, to win over people to that which I have realized as being true, that is called propaganda. In the beginning there is the understanding, this understanding uses propaganda as a tool to find those men, that shall turn understanding into politics. Success is the important thing. Propaganda is not a matter for average minds, but rather a matter for practitioners. It is not supposed to be lovely or theoretically correct. I do not care if I give wonderful, aesthetically elegant speeches, or speak so that women cry. The point of a political speech is to persuade people of what we think right. I speak differently in the provinces than I do in Berlin, and when I speak in Bayreuth, I say different things from what I say in the Pharus Hall. That is a matter of practice, not of theory. We do not want to be a movement of a few straw brains, but rather a movement that can conquer the broad masses. Propaganda should be popular, not intellectually pleasing. It is not the task of propaganda to discover intellectual truths. Those are found in other circumstances, I find them when thinking at my desk, but not in the meeting hall.

Paul Joseph Goebbels (29 October 1897 – 1 May 1945) was Adolf Hitler's Propaganda Minister in Nazi Germany.
The best propaganda is that which, works invisibly, penetrates the whole of life without the public having any knowledge of the propagandist initiative.

Trump Business was not built nor did he grow it by the moral basis of what constitute America. From his grandfather, to his father and to himself, and now onto his children. They have violated Ethic's, Stomped forth without Moral Conscience and Cajoled, Looted, Swindled and Stiffed many for the sake of "money", now he wants to wield it as a power over the nation.
People try to ignore Trumps History, he did not grow his business by ethic and good moral character and conduct, he was and is a tax cheap, he played against out economic system, by fleecing banks continually, and skipping out on paying contractors, being a money washer, and then he moved on to become an engage of selling out the trajectory of American's democracy to the Autocratic system of Russia for the access to and for illicit money and political unraveling.

As for America, Industry, Jobs and how it grew to build a strong middle class and how they fueled the growth of America, is something that escapes Trumps awareness of what was really at work.

American was built as THE PEOPLE of American prospered through their hard work in factories that were instituted to SERVE THE PEOPLE, THE COMMUNITY AND THE NATION. American FELL, because business became purely about "MONEY", and in doing so, not only did if forget about "People" as citizens, the makeup of community, state and nation, he forgot that People, as being the makeup of Individual, Community, State and Nation, is what supplied the purchasing power of industry which was designed to SERVE them, is the foundation of why and how American Industry Expanded as it once did.

When Business became about Money, it laid off people, and doing so, it weakened the Individual, the Community, the State and the Nation.

When American Business "once upon a time" cared about PEOPLE, as the Individual, the Community, the State and the Nation, it provided not just products, but it provided "CUSTOMER SERVICE", in doing so, Product Quality was premier, and Customer Service was the support structure that enhanced the confidence in Product Quality. People identified with Brands, because those Brands identified to Service the people, and in doing so, it supported the Individual, the Community, the State and the Nation. America Grew Strong, it had no issue with Paying It's Taxes, because it respected and appreciated the Services American Provided unto its citizen population. The dedication was proven resoundingly during World War II, people "bought Saving Bond" to help support the premise that American Stood for, when it went to War to Protects its Values and its Constitution, and support the premise of Democracy.

We were Turning the Curve, until American would not get off of the Segregationist Madness that made even its Great Success Lackluster to what it Could have been in Amazing Sparkling Brilliance. When Civil Rights Came, we were on the Path to "A Great Society" as America, without the albatross of Discrimination and Segregation; which was legally sanction away within our Legislature.

BUT.... SOCIETY, COULD NOT SHED ITS BIGOTRY AND RACISM, and turned to Dismantling its Industrial and Business Sector, to prevent the rise of the minority to be part of the economic equilibrium model it was on pace to become. We busted Unions, and when that process was under way, we sought slave wage labor on foreign soil, and Outsourcing took away, the concern for THE PEOPLE as being the Individual, the Community, the State and the Nation. (It will require facing truth and thinking to truly understand this, as I've expounded upon it in many past posting extensively, but people glossed over it, because they refused to see such truths, but now... We are at a point, where such truths cannot be any longer neglected nor denied.)

Trump can't reverse Technology, nor can he stop the greed chasing that has dominated the past 40 yrs, of intense focused activity of chasing slave wage labor around the world.
Trump and his family are themselves, deeply entrenched in doing exactly the same. Nothing with Trump's name on it is made in America.

People blind themselves within their own vanity, Trump is not going to create Job that meet anything remotely close to the era of Union Pay and Benefits, nor did he ever have such plans.. If he had, he would have done so in his own business dealing, he would not have sought to erode the tax base, nor would his mission be to enrich the wealthy at the expense of the poor and working people of American with his proposed tax cuts to the wealthy. He has no concept that Money is a National Treasure that must pay it transfers dues from generation to generation, as he seeks to void that out, by removing the inheritance tax, as too, many other taxes, that have supported this nation for Generations.

He made no thought or effort to disclosure his taxes nor his business dealing, nor did he consider at any point to lead by example, as he has no thought to bring the business that stamps his brand on products to America.

His aims are to gain access to license his brand in Russia and have free access to use illicit and ill-gotten monies, be it foreign or otherwise as his ultimate prized pursuit.

He will sacrifice every American for that aspiration.

way to miss the forrest for the trees.....I honestly don't even know if that's true to be honest..considering how few people work in coal today...again 400 jobs while nice is not going to solve the problem...These people would be better off working outside of coal than basing the livelihood of their future generations on a dying industry....should we prob up the typewriter industry artificially so that the few people left in that industry can keep their jobs?

Amazing the party of free and efficient markets suddenly loves them some government hand.....

?? We seem to agree the democrats have been going in the wrong direction.

What is wrong with pointing out that they could do better if they want to win, bring back the moderates.

LOL, it's the "moderates" that has them losing race after race. If you do not present an alternative, why bother?

Fact is that's 400 jobs. You are for some reason thinking, as the other poster said, that the coal industry will magically be brought back to pre-NAFTA years.
While those gained jobs and reduced job losses are a blip to you they sure are helpful to those who have the job.

It's a pleasant fantasy to believe that its just the "Democrats" and the "libs" that are in backlash against Trump but it's just that - a fantasy. The pushback against this President is wider and deeper than anything I have seen in my lifetime that has included 11 Presidents. The amazing thing is that Trump continues to shoot himself in the foot by playing to his continuously shrinking base. If he had a lick of sense he would try to find some common ground with the average American citizen. He will probably get an unprecedented comeuppance at Midterm elections, and he has no one to blame but himself.
