It had been a few days since the last one - we needed another, obviously.
Although I think it's funny that THIS is something people actually think is worth saving. Don't we want to support local businesses? And support businesses that are serving good food with better ingredients (i.e. not frozen microwaved dinners) and more competitive prices?
Millennials can't win no matter what. I think there is just a general disdain for millennials no matter what. On one hand, one will complain if millennials don't go to the local stuff. And then when millennials do that, there are accusations of hipsterism. What do said persons want?

As a millennial, I prefer to cook myself or go to local spots - I had Nepalese food for lunch. However Buffalo Wild Wings ain't bad. Most American food is bland as hell but chicken wings definitely are not.
Agreed. The disdain toward millennials is unwarranted, especially when it comes to the job market. The attitude older people have toward them is that they should be grateful to take crappy jobs without benefits that can't support them or their families "Because I did back in the 50s,/60s/70s," they should "pull themselves up by their bootstraps," and not to do so proves that they are spoiled and entitled brats. So now they are responsible for the failure of an entire class of restaurants. How about we put the blame where it should be? On the restaurants themselves.
I would say that the chain's attempts to serve the equivalent of a $3 frozen dinner from the supermarket and charge $15 for it after heating it up in a microwave are what is killing them. Applebee's is one of the worst chains out there. The food there is absolutely disgusting, it is like eating at a convenience store.
I agree. I never liked Applebee's and everyone thought I was crazy because they loved it and this is going back years.

I've seen both sides of the spectrum though. The millennials who are go-getters and don't let anything get in their way of achieving what they want. Who will do the extra hours to work, study for those exams and certifications, and try to be the best they can be.
But unfortunately, due to the "mainstream" millennials stigma, the ones who give us the bad rep are those who (I'm gonna just say it) never got spanked nor punished when they acted up as kids, had everything handed to them, and when they get into the real world, think that things should be handed to them instead of working for them. Then whine and complain and moan when something doesn't go their way.
But, this article is BS. Nobody is to blame for BWW and Applebees losing profit except for them. Instead of making 100000 stores, why not close some down, and rebrand/focus on the food/drinks.
Millennials are in the mess they are in because of the older Gen X'ers and baby boomers. When they worked minimum wage was worth 3 times what it's worth now.
Chain restaurants are pretty much garbage nowadays anyway.
What, you don't like "quirky" standardized interiors, servers using one the 5 corporate-approved greetings, microwaved appetizers and tasteless beer?
Applebee's makes me think of a pre-fab Anytown USA - you pull off the freeway and there are the same gas stations, two chain motels, five fast-food places and a pharmacy. Big-box stores off a little in the distance. A seedy strip mall with a liquor store, a payday loan place and a massage parlor. And the upscale shopping and dining area with three chain restaurants and a dozen chain stores - an Old Navy, a Gap and a Foot Locker among them. Flickering neon and the hum of the freeway can never quite be escaped.
