And if you don't agree with either major party and can't in good conscience vote for either party's nominee, you will have MAJOR misgivings no matter which of the two major party nominees is elected.

Someone explain to me exactly how this is a good system.

Its the system we have. And several states vary in their voting. Additionally at the house level its far more granular, as well as the local level.

Basically...it generally works.

It isn't. All forms of government are a fictitious excuse for aggression of one group upon another. Democratic forms are merely wearing a nicer costume to hide their true evil. In "democracy", aggression toward your fellow man is "justified", because you are in the largest gang of thugs and tyrants. Everything else is simply smoke and mirrors to hide the barbarity of government in general, democratic or otherwise. It matters not to the slave, victim, or deprived, whether his attacker is a single tyrant, gang of thugs, or "majority". That victim still is not free from immoral aggression. Free human beings should never be subject to aggression, be it by a person, group, or government. And for the true-believes of collectivism/statism, all forms rely on slavery and destroy human freedom by their very nature. Government is by definition aggression by some upon others.

But then you have the problem of California being a dictator...hardly an improvement...The only solution to government, is to take away its "right" to initiate force upon the individual. Then, and only then, could "government" serve its only moral purpose. As a retaliatory force against those who initiate force upon others.
