Lol @ people that keep comparing Kansas to California. They're nowhere close to being comparable. People flock to California in droves that replace the folks who leave...

Brownback only did what states are set up to do...be laboratories of differing governing philosophies. It failed (it never stood a chance anyway), and now they're moving on with a more sane approach. Lesson learned.
They re elected him despite his blunder. So if they ain't mad at him and they have to live there, it's no skin off my back.
Very fascinating series of events and good input by most. It seems pretty easy to read about how and why the Kansas experiment didn't work from the view of left-leaning and moderate media, but the right seems to be very silent on why this didn't work. As many have pointed out, there needs to be a balance between taxes on income, corporate, and consumption to stimulate some behaviors by incentivizing through breaks and relative advantages while penalizing other behaviors through cost.
It'll be interesting to see how Kansas will get itself out of this funk. It seems cutting taxes won't help and raising taxes can put them at a competitive disadvantage from other states that have better infrastructure, customers, and social services. What do you think will happen? Predictions anyone?
I doubt if Kansas will get itself out of this mess. They may be the first state to be given a bailout from the Federal Government, just like they did for the banks and automakers, because they were "too big to fail". This should be a warning signal how republicans can bankrupt a state, by their phony "trickle-down" policies.
When Flint, Michigan went financially belly-up, an overseer was imposed on them by the state, which funded their rescue. Something similar should be done with Kansas and their governorship and legislature should be dissolved and replaced with federal managers, until they're able to start over again.
The republicans can do a "Kansas job" on an entire country as well, if they're allowed to implement their self-serving, but ultimately disastrous schemes. As a country, are we too brain-dead to avoid seeing this, before it's too late?
Kansas is flourishing under Governor Brownback and is doing much better than California as the statistics point out (lower unemployment, cost 50% less to live than Cali, just a much better run state)...just pointing out the narrow focus all the liberals on here are making to try to make a point but it ends up being a thread fail. Kansas is doing great for what it is...Cali isn't doing great for what it should be.

It is important that the Dems stay on this every time Trump supporters , GOP members, representatives, senators start to talk about tax cuts.
If you are a dem, contact your democrat in office or running for office (at some point) and layout the details for them. tell them to beat the Trump tax plan to death with Kansas.
