Interesting article .

The puzzling question remains: "What do the secular left and Islamists have in common?" Moreover, why are these two groups frequently drawn seemingly to harmonize on actions and plans so easily? After all, the disparities between the secular left and Islamists are truly overwhelming.

From the same "author":

Will Trump's Election Help Us Share the Bible?

You can't make this stuff up.

The Strange Harmony Between Secular Left and Radical Islam
It's from the Christian Post, the same website that advocates a fundamentalist Christian theocracy in many articles.

Pretty much everything the religious right accuses Islamists and Leftists of doing, they are also trying to do, only in a Christian package. While the far left wants to impose political correctness on everyone, the religious right wants to impose traditional values and cultural Christianity on everyone. They truly want an authoritarian state based on Biblical morality. The Christian Right has no right at all to claim they are for freedom for everyone.

Not too puzzling, considering that the Christian conservative right tends to be opposed to Islam. It's the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing.

The secular left, in spite of their public rhetoric for liberty, are de facto supporters of authoritarian thinking. They want all their own views to be affirmed as "settled" by everyone else – much as Islamists desire.
I'd say that is accurate.

The Strange Harmony Between Secular Left and Radical Islam

Actually, Radical Islam is very closely aligned with the Right-Wing in this country.

They both:

1. Are super religious
2. Believe in bearing arms
3. Hates the liberal media
4. Very conservative
5. Hates free speech
6. Mostly from rural areas
7. Distrust capitalism
8. Believe armed conflicts can solve problems
9. Pro-life
10. Intolerant

.

The first paragraph of the article claims Kathy Griffin made that photo with Trump's head to pay homage for ISIS... which is absurd.

And it never got better. The article identifies 4 basics reasons as to why Islamists and secular left in that they are both authoritarian, don't value human life, support identity politics, and don't like the Bible.

The problem with this generally is that "secular left" as a group is pretty vague. That can refer to a number of subgroups, with varying beliefs. To say they are authoritarian across the board is simply irresponsible. As for their support of identity politics, I'm not sure I buy that Islamists play identity politics. Not in the same way Democrats do (which is ****ty). The Bible argument and human life argument are too stupid to deserve a response. I was left without really understanding the point of the article. They're not the same, as the article says many times, but they are the same as the article implies... or something...
