This is like saying people who receive food stamps shouldn't be allowed into stores that sell items they can't purchase with them. Yeah, bent, your comment really does sound that stupid.

Many low income families have no car, and the stores are all too far away to walk to. Obtaining needed household items (especially bulky items) can be a huge chore. I think a Prime membership would be a godsend for these families. If Amazon wants to pander to them, let them.

I use the crap out of my Prime membership despite my personal opinion that Jeff Bezos is a major d-bag. I got over it when I discovered that I can order a 40 pound sack of dog food and plastic storage bins at 8:00 am and have them delivered that same afternoon. 'Murica!!!

Yes you save money paying yearly. I was just pointing out that it is not a 2.26 difference, either way.

I don't anything about anyones subscribing or unsubscribing to prime. Should I be privy to that info?

Is Amazon actually accepting EBT? I thought they just offered a prime discount.

We're not a low income, I just hate driving all the time and being around idiots. As I've gotten older it's become worse.
We do use the heck out of our prime membership also along with our neighbors.

Totally. I just bought some laundry detergent from Amazon. So luxurious, this notion of clean clothes!

I hate Wal-mart... everyone knows that. But Wal-mart doesn't charge me more for an item just because it can. When Amazon starts mean testing (which is what this is) it's time to leave Amazon. You want to give away profit (which is something you don't show on your balance sheet anyway Amazon) donate food and items on your dime to those who need it. I find that highly commendable. But don't make me subsidize someone else's streaming video, fidget spinners, and literature (Amazon's three most sold items!). This really irritates me this morning.....

I doubt that Amazon got to the place it's at today by acting as a charity. I imagine that Amazon execs have decided that it will be profitable to attract lower income customers who will then be tempted to purchase all the goodies Amazon has to offer. It's the membership which will be discounted - nothing else. You would be right to complain if Amazon Prime's regular membership fees had gone up in order to cover its low income discount. This has not happened. It's just capitalism at work. Get over it.

Yes, it's a 2 year pilot program being tested by the USDA, 7 online retailers including Amazon will accept SNAP for food purchases https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...snap/96661036/
