This is not how it works Mr. Sanders. As a Christian he believes non-believers, including muslims, are condemned, because that is what the Bible clearly teaches. Likewise, Quran teaches non-muslims are also condemned. Those beliefs cannot disqualify anyone from office.
During a confirmation hearing Wednesday for a Office of Management and Budget nominee, Sanders appeared to clearly be trying to impose a religious test on a Trump administration nominee.
About halfway through the Senate Budget Committee hearing of nominee Russel Vought, Sanders asked him directly about his Christian faith.
Why does Bernie still get any coverage at all? he was rejected by his own party.
I know, I know supposedly hes Independent...but he ran as the (D) nominee and constantly calls himself a Democratic socialist. He constantly says negative crap about Trump, which I guess they all do to make sure they get reelected, so its clear which side he leans.

McCain says negative things about Trump all the time and he lost also, correct?

He still holds public office. He serves on a Senate committee. Perhaps you hate the Republic, but I rather like it and think all of it's parts are worthy of discussion. In fact, I kind of believe the congress is more important than the presidency. Call me old fashioned, but I really don't care what Trump is tweeting at 3am. I don't need an article or a report to tell me it was stupid; of course it was stupid. I'd much rather here about something like this.
Speaking on this issue, I decided that the Conservative Tribune is a bull**** fake news site (because it is) and read the Atlantic piece on it to see if that gave more information. And it did, of course. Who could have predicted a real newspaper would offer a better retelling of events than a glorified blog.
Needless to say, the article is also very critical of Sanders, stating that he "flirts" with the norms of religious tests. It does what the Conservative Tribune doesn't, which is give Sanders the benefit of the doubt; he wasn't trying to offer up a religious test but was instead trying to make certain Mr. Vought does not view Muslims as a second class citizen. Senator Van Hollen backs Sanders reasoning for the questioning.
And to Voughts credit, he does actually answer that question. He does not view them as second class citizens and was only speaking about personal religious conviction (as in no relation to public concern). The Atlantic also goes a step further by providing some context to Voughts original statement by making it clear that he was not speaking about any sort of public policy, but about religious conviction. He does not condemn Muslims to anything. He feels his God does, which may be a nasty view, but not one that is really of any significance. I think there is no god; doesn't bother me that the majority of politicians do or claim to.
Sanders would be right in his questioning were there some evidence to suggest that Vought believed Muslims should have fewer civil rights. And hell, even if there wasn't a reason, I don't think it was unreasonable for Sanders to double check, but he did make clear that he would not discriminate against Muslims so Sanders should have ended his questioning sooner.

So, you think they somehow fabricated the video with Bernie saying those very things?

That was not what he was asking. He asked if he believed muslims and jews are condemned based on Christianity.
