Potter, a Republican, sees Mercer as emblematic of a major shift in American politics that has occurred since 2010, when the Supreme Court made a controversial ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. That ruling, and several subsequent ones, removed virtually all limits on how much money corporations and nonprofit groups can spend on federal elections, and how much individuals can give to political-action committees.

And since that time we have seen steroids injected into the corruption in politics. Mercer is a perfect example of what happens when the ultra rich create their own media. The article title says Breitbart lost 90% of it's sponsors but the article contents says it won't matter because of people like Mercer.

In other words, the ultra wealthy create news that benefits them and many people believe it. I'd say this qualifies as proof we are living in an oligarchy and that some are perfectly happy with that.

Five members of our Supreme Court allow this to happen. All were Republican. They could have at least made it more difficult but instead made it worse. Even some members of our Supreme Court are run by oligarchs.

Its still one of the highest ranked web sites in the country for traffic. Certainly blows away other news sites like msnbc, nbcnews, abcnews, cbsnews. 61st in the US on alexa rankings for all web sites

Exactly. There seems to be so much fear on the left, all of a sudden you see these attacks and attempt to silence any dissent, getting Oreilly off the air, attacking hannity, media matters going after "advertisers" that advertise on shows that promote dissent to their agenda.

So? The fact that a bunch of cranks spend all day getting outraged on Breitbart is meaningless to advertisers. What matters is whether those visitors translate into sales, which it probably doesn't unless you're hawking tin foil hats or confederate flags.

I guess those sponsors also realized that the election is over. Thank God for that and with who we elected.

So what? The left has a lock on most cable, all the nets, PBS across the country and all the big papers except for the editorial pages of the WSJ, even HuffPo ranks above Breitbart.

There's a lot of whining about one Web site when the left has a lock on the media. You folks can't take any dissension, can you?

Alex Jones says under oath that even he does not believe what he says and his listeners still defend him.

Nuff said!

To conservatives, pesky things like verifiable truths and facts are the purview of "the left".

Okay

Corporations are leftist liberal fascists who must be fought. Corporations have no place in politics. Boycott the boycotting companies.
