Who really cares? The Public Theater gets 6% royalties for eternity from every show that started there. Guess what show started there....friggin Hamilton. I think they are going to be just fine without Delta.
Eta, that's on gross, not net and includes every production, NYC, Chicago, the tour, London...
There is a difference between "speech" and "actions"
The Constitutions says NOTHING about "freedom of expression" as the SC has ruled, which MANY disagree with.
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
What's with people and taking a handful of people doing something as being some massive movement. This isn't "America waking up" or an "example of how liberals think." It's a play and some corporate sponsors. That's it. The world isn't good and evil. This is real live, not a ****ing Avengers movie.
And yeah, I'd drop them as a sponsor too. Too controversial. Not worth any possible fall out.
I am not a Trump fan and if people want to protest or make a statement, that's fine.
But these things can be done with class and decorum.
What's wrong with class and decorum?
Also, I'm tired of going to things to be entertained and instead getting political messages (any kind) dumped on my head.
I generally agree. For one, I am long tired of the classical plays being 'updated'. Second, it is generally poor taste to show a current President, even if ostensibly 'Caesar', being assassinated by the Senate (or boardroom, what have you).
I will note that such a play was done before, in 2013, with 'Obama', as Caesar.
One difference appears to be: the Trump play is partly supported by public money (I assume, since it was in a public park), while the Obama play was apparently private.
The brilliance of Shakespeare's plays is that they have contemporary resonance. If the play raises questions then it is doing what all good art should do.

Reason: Rethought entire post
It isn't backing Trump to rethink strategy that has their company associated with a play where a 'look alike" to the President gets assassinated. It's just common sense. You don't want to be associated with that. It's not a good thing. Americans, even if they don't like Trump and didn't vote for him, don't necessarily like that kind of 'art'.
They have the free will to support or not and they took it.
