This could probably have been posted in the Illegal Immigration forum but as of now I have no proof!
(Cartel or possibly MS 13?)

Doña Ana County, New Mexico – U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed that a Border Patrol agent was recovered after being badly injured. Reports coming in from various news outlets say that the agent was tortured and horrifically mutilated.

On June 10, U.S. Customs and Border Protection released the following statement about the incident:

“U.S. Customs and Border Protection is assisting in the investigation of a report of an assault against an off-duty Border Patrol agent assigned to the Deming, New Mexico, Border Patrol Station.

The agent was discovered on the side of the road by a motorist at 11 p.m. MDT. The agent suffered multiple, serious injuries to his head, chest and hands.

Emergency Medical Services transported the agent to a nearby hospital where he is being treated for his wounds. The agent is in stable condition.

"Robin Zielinski, a photojournalist with Las Cuces Sun-news later released that the Border Patrol agent’s fingers were cut off during the attack."

I was reading about this earlier. It doesn't sound random, but begs the question of why. The Mexican Mafia normally doesn't mess with authority, they don't want the heat.

My initial reaction, based on nothing but gut feeling, is that he may have been involved in the drug trade.

Yes, that seems likely and he wouldn't be the first dirty BP agent.

If we are going to speculate :

It could be an attack on the BP by globalist who want open borders. They are embracing violence as a means to get what they want.

My initial reaction, too. That's a "go to" act by drug traffickers.

Without any further info, that's my initial reaction, too.

The cartels sending the message, "If you take our money, we expect the results agreed to."

I'm betting he stole some of their (drug cartel) money or drugs. They wanted to send a message to other "would be theives" thinking of stealing from them.

It wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened unfortunately. Generally speaking, if the cartels wanted to kill/injure a cop they would just shoot them ... the torture and mutilation is a whole different ballgame that is normally reserved for rivals or 'traitors'.
