There was a time when American citizens stood together. Some of the posts here seem to give the impression that many live by the same mentality of North Korea.

Otto made no mistake. He made a choice which happened to be the wrong one. He's over 18 and needs to be held accountable for his decisions. He didn't discuss this with his Mommy before he made his decision, but expected Mommy to save him due to his wrong decision.

What makes your mentality, as demonstrated in your above post, any different than that of North Korea?

LOL...i'll bite. Most of the people on these forums list off what they want America to be...and they end up describing North Korea. Here you have a country that wants to protect it's borders from outsiders and all of a sudden you think border hopping and allegedly committing a crime...and you think that country should be soft on an "illegal immigrant"? Sound familiar? LMAO

Oh and how did this become about Obama? Yall cry when you think he associates him self with Mike Brown or Trayvon, but with this actual criminal he's supposed to be all up in arms? All of a sudden yall cool with Obama helping criminals? LMAO

Otto committed no crime nor broke any laws in NK. Otto was not an illegal immigrant in NK. Otto had a valid tourist visa there.

I posted. earlier in this thread, the supposed evidence (video) and debunked it. In this country, we believe in innocence until proven guilty. Do you believe in that also?

North Korea has their own set of laws. Perhaps he should have respected them. How is it other people have visited North Korea without incident but this person ended up with a 15 year sentence?

An adult. Once my sons crossed the 18 threshold they became adults and were held accountable for their actions by every state in the US. If they had broken any laws in the US they are treated as adults by every state in the US.

You can't put the US on any pedestal for doing things right to foreign prisoners, when the US did numerous negative things which can be construed as torture at Guantanamo Bay.

Warmbier is now in Cincinnati, where his family lives. After hospitalization and thorough examination, it's been determined that he has suffered extensive brain damage, including substantial loss of brain tissue. He is unlikely to regain consciousness.

What the hell did the North Koreans do to this young man?

Regardless of your political views, no one deserves this. The self-righteousness and judgmentalism illustrated in this thread makes me sick. This is a tragedy, and Otto Warmbier's minor indiscretion and youthful bad judgment should not have led to the total destruction of any meaningful life for him.

Since Otto's brain is irreversibly and severely damaged, he can no longer be held accountable for anything. Perhaps you hadn't heard the latest news about him when you wrote the above post - I hope not.

His poor parents...

Per NK, Botulism.

Botulism is fatal in 5 to 10% of people who are affected. However, if left untreated, botulism is fatal in 40 to 50% of cases.
