One-third of world now overweight, with US leading the way - CNN.com

Very sad and sickening that people don't take personal responsibility for their eating habits

It becomes less important when others are expected to pick up your tab. Sadly people want to move away from personal responsibility more and more.

But I feel like more people are on diet. If they did a study, one would find 1/4 of the world is on some type of diet

29 Most Obese Countries In The World

It's more like 12%, and the US is not even in the top 10.

12 per cent of all adults are obese – but which countries have the biggest weight problem?

A combination of cheap processed food and sitting on your butt watching TV and playing video games. People have no discipline when it comes to electronic devices.

I go walking every evening at the park and I see people who are obscenely obese. It is very sad. Not only that but I am amazed at the walkers who stare at a phone while walking.

While personal responsibility is a big part of it, we can't turn a blind eye to the type of food that we have been producing and consuming, and the sedentary lifestyles that more and more people are leading as more people take on jobs at a desk.

If WWIII turns into a donut eating contest, the US will be hands down winner.

I hope this stays civil since this OP has....similar distaste towards the obese.

Well at least they're out there walking too, right? That's like snickering & making fun of bigger people who are working out. People make fun of them for being bigger & they make fun of them being bigger & trying to do something about it. They can't win with some people.
