Say we had very intelligent AI and you could program it with all of the knowledge a Judge knows, BUT you would still have a fully human jury, would you feel that would be okay? So say, the jury still gets to decide whether innocent or guilty, but the Robot Judge gets to decide the sentence. I would be for it. As it is Judges, I believe, that despite not supposed to be, are VERY biased. Women for example, are consistently given MUCH lighter sentences then men for the same crime. And in a few cases even men that rape women are given very light sentences. Among other things. I, for one, don't trust Judges at all to be impartial or fair. You may joke about this seeming crazy, but would it really be, if you were to program it with all the knowledge of whatever a Judge is supposed to have and pass the sentence based not by any emotion or any other human infallibility, but straight logic and reasoning?

So many great articles on the use of Artificial Intelligence in this field (and so many others).
I think it is a slippery slope.

No. By the time an AI is smart enough to understand the nuances of a trial, it will be smart enough to corrupt.
